Very Fine Mexico silver 8 reales coin.
Struck for King Ferdinand VII at the Durango Mint (mint mark D), assayer CG.
Used to pay Royalist Army forces during the War of Independence.
Certified by PCGS to VF 35, Population Census: This coin, none higher (NGC Pop 0/1).
Better struck example for this very crude issue.
Interesting reverse legend font selection with the “H” in HISPAN, created using two “I” punches with a very faint crossbar between.
